No I am sorry to say the BBC have not launched iPlayer in the USA, yet. It is true there have been rumours of a release of iPlayer in the USA using a subscriptions system there are many problems with covering the funding issues for this.
So you might as well stop reading now, as you can't watch BBC iPlayer in the USA can you? Well actually you can, very easily! Much the same as everybody else in the world can watch USA TV you too can watch British TV. Now you can do this for free, but I truly don't recommend that to you as a long term solution. It is slow, so picture quality suffers, and you will spend time each day fixing it.
How to Watch iPlayer USA
OK so you may have just taken a look at the free methods, and seen it's hard to setup and not reliable for everyday viewing. What you really need is a UK based proxy or VPN solution. Now if you had to pick between them I would suggest going for a VPN based solution, as it will allow you to watch all UK TV channels and download from BBC iPlayer from anywhere in the world. However there is no need to pick, as one software solution has both UK proxy and VPN (along with 6 other countries) for you to use.
This IP cloaking software simply makes it look like your computer is connected to an ISP in the UK, if you use a proxy it only makes certain parts of your traffic look like its from the UK while others will still appear to be USA based. That is why while you can watch BBC iPlayer in the USA with a UK proxy you will not be able to download. To download programs you will have to use the VPN function as this then makes all your Internet traffic appear to be UK based.

1oxford - The VPN function is turned on through the button marked 'Launch OpenVPN' above the Connect/Disconnect button in Identity Cloaker.
Note for Vista 64bit & Windows 7 64bit: Those of you running 64bit versions of Windows will find the auto installation of OpenVPN drivers does not work. Don't worry as there is a very simple solution, I myself use Vista 64 so I know this solution works.
OpenVPN workaround for 64-bit Windows Vista & Windows 7
1. Download full/standard OpenVPN installer from

2. You can keep the install settings at default or choose to install the OpenVPN driver only. To make it simple, just leave everything in the installation as it is preselected.
This will install the OpenVPN driver properly even on 64-bit OS. Now when you start OpenVPN Portable through the Identity Cloaker client application, you will no longer be prompted if you want to install the driver as it is installed already.
When you close OpenVPN Portable, you will be prompted if you want to have the driver uninstalled, just choose "No" (if you pick "Yes" by mistake it will not cause any problems, and will not actually remove the drivers).
Is it possible to cloak a PS3 ?
Yes you can cloak a PS3... I don't have a PS3 to hand (donations) but two generic methods will work. You can try the messy way of setting up Identity Cloaker on a PC and routing the PS3's internet through the PC... OR you can setup the proxy directly on the PS3.

There are the following restrictions using a VPN service
1. You are dependent on their server speed. So, your 50 mbps connection is of no use if the servers provide only 2 mbps
2. No VPN is cheap ! The decent ones amounts to about $15 per month
3. No matter what they say, VPNs never gives unlimited traffic. The best you can get is 5gb.
The best bet is to use some kind of DNS services. Luckily they are cheap and fast since it only a DNS re-route and don't have any implications on the speed. The best one available out there is www.unotelly.com

False positives from AV programs and the fact the software is not mass market are why you get these. Of course if I was a con man I would say the same thing, but a quick look around the Internet will show you people using this software. You can also email the guy who wrote it on their website, he is quite open and answers any questions.

I am a big fan of US netflix and hulu. Unfortunately when I moved from US to canada, I was disappointed to see the level of difference between the broadcasting of these channels. I cannot find the VPN software to click on and begin the process. After i log into BBCiplayer, where do I find the link?
